82nd Gold Star Education Project

OUR VISION

The 82nd Gold Star Education Project is committed to providing a College Education for all the Division’s Fallen from the Global War on Terrorism.

While there are Government provisions for educating the children of our Fallen, those provisions do not go far enough, especially in today’s world of rising higher education costs.

Our Vision: Fulfill the higher education needs of our Gold Star Children by helping families navigate existing education funding programs and providing additional funding to completely cover higher education costs.

 

 

Since 1946, the 82nd Airborne Division Association has continually supported the paratroopers and families of the 82nd Airborne Division.  Continuing in that spirit, the Association is now dedicating itself to supporting our Global War on Terrorism Gold Star Families.

Since 9/11, the 82nd Airborne Division has deployed time and again throughout the world in support of combat operations.  The Division has paid a heavy price, losing 260 paratroopers who left behind 160 children.

 

 

WHY US?

The answer is simple. As higher education costs continue to rise, the burden on our Gold Star Families increases dramatically, with annual median costs for public universities at $20,700 and $46,950 for private universities. The U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs Survivors’ and Dependents’ Education Assistance Program (DEA) provides only $10,200 per year for college assistance.  And while compensation following the loss of these Service Members brings compensation upwards of $500,000, a single parent without a job will quickly see these funds dwindle within the first 3-5 years.

That’s where the 82nd Gold Star Education Project comes in.  With your help, we can provide the additional financial assistance to our Gold Star children, honoring their Gold Star Paratrooper’s service and sacrifice by insuring they can pursue a valuable education.

ALL FUNDS WILL GO DIRECTLY TO THE 82ND GOLD STAR EDUCATION PROJECT TO PROVIDE FOR THE EDUCATIONAL NEEDS OF GOLD STAR CHILDREN.  8% OF ALL FUNDS WILL GO TOWARDS ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS.

THE 82ND AIRBORNE DIVISION ASSOCIATION IS A NONPROFIT 501(C)3 ORGANIZATION.  DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTABLE.
